We will be fishing the WMO out of Sunset Marina in August. Fishing starting to pick up with several Blue Marlin seen by several boats in the MD Canyons. Hopefully the Yellowfin (Larger) fish will move in !!
Fished Monday and Tuesday, on Monday saw one blue marlin. Day 2 the crew released approx a 200lb Blue Marlin, on the board finally. Nice lure bite.
Day 5 Big Rock
Jun 13
Peter reports a Nice day of fishing, but no bites, he had a big blue marlin chasing dolphin right next to the boat, never came into the spread. Pretty exciting. Lots of bait, many fish seen, not many caught.
4th day, one white marlin released at 12:12. We will fish again on Friday.
We took a lay day on Tuesday and Weds, fishing the balance of the week. Hope to run across the right fish. With most of the fleet fishing early, we should get one day out there with a small amount of boats.
Day 1 Big Rock Report
Jun 8
Lot’s of bait, nice conditions in the gulf stream, did not see a blue. Had one white marlin up on the teaser, would not take the pitch bait. Lay day on Tuesday. Hope to get on them later in the week.
Big Rock Next !!
Jun 4
Contango will start fishing hard this Saturday with the Ladies Charity Tournament. Team Contango Mangos will be fishing the ladies tourney on Sat. Moving onto the Big Rock starting Monday. Stay tuned for reports. After Big Rock, we head up the beach to Hatteras Marlin Club for a week of fishing the annual club tournament. We still have dates open in July, and the last week of August out of Ocean City, Maryland. Looks like Pirates Cove Tournament is open right now in August, with some interest.
We are booked to fish WMO and MA500, but plan to fish out of Sunset Marina in Ocean City late August and Sept to catch the better fishing. Check in from time to time.
Contango !!
We’re proud to debut the web site just in time for the summer tournament season and hope you enjoy the site. Please feel free to leave a comment or question if you’re having trouble finding anything. We hope the site not only effectively communicates information about the Contango and charter opportunities, but can become a fun tool for interacting with current and past customers! If you’ve recently gotten back from a charter on the Contango – send us some photos – we’d love to share them on the site!
The Marlin have Arrived!
Apr 29
I had the pleasure of stumbling across a double header of Blue Marlin yesterday while fishing on a 44′ Jarrett Bay with the owner and his son. We lost one fish just before getting spooled and released the other. I am still looking for a team to fish the Big Rock on the Contango! Now is a great time to get in some practice days before the tournament.
